Preparing for a More Automated IRS
The IRS continues to expand its use of technology to modernize operations and improve case management with both taxpayers and tax professionals. While the agency’s use of artificial intelligence is still developing, AI and other automated technologies are beginning to influence areas such as audit selection and internal operations. At the same time, expanded online accounts and other digital initiatives are changing how taxpayers and practitioners interact with the IRS.
This session examines the IRS’s current use of AI and broader digital modernization efforts, with an emphasis on developments most relevant to tax professionals. Attendees will explore how technology is being used within IRS operations, compliance and taxpayer service; consider emerging digital tools and capabilities; and evaluate how these changes may affect practitioner interactions with the IRS and client service.
