Map Your Workflow Before Choosing Technology
Technology decisions are easier when firms understand the workflow they are trying to improve. Before comparing software features or watching product demonstrations, tax professionals need to identify bottlenecks, client communication gaps, duplicated data entry, review challenges and areas of compliance risk. Then, they can determine which tools can improve the quality and consistency of their work.
This session will help attendees map a tax practice workflow from client intake through return delivery and follow-up. Participants will learn how to identify pain points, connect firm challenges to possible technology solutions and develop practical questions to ask vendors. Attendees will use this framework throughout the day as they evaluate product demonstrations and consider which tools may fit their own practices.
Objectives
Upon completion of this session, you will be able to:
- Identify key steps in a tax practice workflow that may be improved or affected by technology
- Recognize workflow gaps, compliance risk points and inefficiencies that should be understood before evaluating technology solutions
- Develop practical questions and evaluation criteria for selecting technology solutions that support compliance, due diligence and firm operations
